Alfort(Japanese chocolate cookie)

Today I would like to introduce a beautiful looking chocolate cookie (or should I say "English biscuit"?).

Packaging

The bright blue color is a marker of the product.

The dark blue individual wrappers are the original and the light blue ones are the rich milk chocolate flavor.

Looks

Alfort(Japanese chocolate cookie)
On the left is the original and on the right is the rich milk chocolate flavor.
From the color of the chocolate, you can tell from the actual product that the original is a bittersweet chocolate, while the rich milk chocolate has more milk in it.

The picture of a ship embossed in chocolate is the symbol of this snack and the origin of its name.
The word "Alfort" was coined by this confectioner manufacturer and means "dream" or "romance". It expresses the enthusiasm of rowing on the ocean of the confectionery market. The sailing ship depicted on the chocolate is probably an image of the Age of Discovery.
Still, the design is so elaborate and beautiful that it's hard to believe it's a popular snack, isn't it?

The back side looks like this. Cookies and chocolate are glued together.

By the way, in Japan, "cookie" and "biscuit" mean almost the same thing. However, cookies are called "cookies" when they have a rough, handmade style with lots of oil and sugar, and "biscuits" when they are uniformly shaped, simple in taste and appearance.

So, in Japan, Alfort is precisely a snack that combines "biscuits" and chocolate.

This is about the size.

It is important to note that they also sell a smaller, portable size Alfort that looks exactly like this size.
To tell the difference, look at the chocolate. If the chocolate has rounded corners, it is the larger size, and if the corners are sharp, it is the smaller size. Be careful with mail order purchases.

The whole wheat cookies are very crispy and rustic. The chocolate is thick and almost like a bar of chocolate.

The combination of these two ingredients creates the wonderful taste of Alfort.
There are many different chocolate cookies with a chocolate coating around the cookie, but none of them have such a thick chocolate and such a strong presence.
When you taste the crispness of the chocolate sheet and the crunchiness of the cookie at the same time, it brings out the best of both flavors and textures and is very delicious.
I want everyone to experience that!😍

The cookie portion has no flavor differences, but the chocolate portion is quite different.
The original flavor is bitter and has a strong cocoa taste, while the rich milk chocolate flavor is milkier and sweeter.
I prefer the original flavor because I prefer bitter chocolate among chocolates.
Which is it for you?

Please try both and compare them. Let's yum yum😋
